Our Partnership with Ardmore Artists

Over the past few seasons, we’ve partnered with Ardmore, a collective of South African artisans, to develop a capsule collection of dressing gowns and slippers on luxurious velvets.

Ardmore drew inspiration from the lush flora and exotic fauna of the Sabie Forest near South Africa’s famous Kruger National Park. The name Sabie is an Afrikaans word derived from the Tsonga word ‘Ulusaba,’ meaning ‘fearful river.’ As showcased on our River Chase gown, this river was once filled with crocodiles.

Our slippers and dressing gowns feature other creatures in mystically bold landscapes – such as cheetahs, elephants and owls. On the slippers, the design is carefully placed to feature the animal on each foot, whereas on the dressing gown, the pattern is matched so you get a continuation of the design throughout the body, pockets and arms. This is a laborious process that our tailors and shoemakers take to make beautiful and unique garments.

Cotton velvet is the perfect textile for these garments. Its sumptuous hand lets the wearer lose themselves in the richness of the fabric, and it provides a deep matte field over which the vibrant designs appear to almost float.
