The New & Lingwood Story
Each New & Lingwood collection is created to re-imagine expectations of relaxed style.
Marrying our 150-year heritage in tailoring and craftsmanship with a focus on tasteful innovation, each piece carries a unique blend of classic and contemporary style. Timeless and designed for a modern life.
Founded in 1865 by husband-and-wife duo, Elisabeth New and Samuel Lingwood, their partnership was unusual for the times but their desire to work with the very best in British mills, weavers, shoemakers and tailors would propel the house to the centre of Jermyn Street, one of the most important shopping destinations in London.
Today, our luxurious loungewear and relaxed tailoring maintains our founders’ exacting focus on quality, elevating the standards of domestic elegance around the world. Our products and prints are designed in our London brand home and we have worked with the same workrooms and mills for decades, such as Fox Brothers & Co in Somerset and silk weavers in Sudbury. These artisans have honed their craft since as early as 1770.
100% silk, cashmere, fine wool and cotton-based velvet have long been the backbone of our fabrics and we continue to innovate sustainably with our intention for our practices to best serve the community we live in.
We aim to create the world’s most beautiful and relaxed clothing to inspire, lift and transform the days of our customers and clients. Focused on a timeless aesthetic, New & Lingwood exists to serve the generations who wear it.
